This intense five-day course offers instruction on the selection and installation, acceptable test procedures, and backflow preventer assemblie repair. Certification enables the technician to test new installations, perform the required annual testing, and allows Journeymen to repair backflow preventer assemblies.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Individuals working in the water and wastewater industries including: plumbers, pipe fitters, fire protection specialist, irrigation specialists, engineers, landscape professionals, water and wastewater operators and maintenance personnel.
This 40-hour course is designed to train students in the techniques for testing all gauge testable backflow assemblies. Certified testers are permitted to test and repair backflow assemblies according to state or local regulations. The class will include lecture, demonstration, written exam and practical testing on pressure vacuum breakers, spill resistant pressure vacuum breakers, double check valves, and the reduced pressure principle backflow prevention assemblies. Students must pass both written and hands on exam in order to receive certification as a Backflow Preventer Tester and/or Repair person.
This course utilizes the University of Southern California (USC) Manual of Cross-Connection Control as the standard for backflow prevention assembly testing procedures and is approved by the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority and allows those qualified to receive their endorsement. Upon successfully completing the exams you will have the ability to test and/or repair backflow preventers.
Daily breaks are scheduled and light refreshments are available for the students. Students are responsible for their own lunch.
Class size is currently limited and maintains a good instructor to student ratio.
Students must be present the entire course to receive a Certificate.
